9+ People Who Definitely Didn’t Get the Hairstyles They Asked For

Remember that old app called Vine? There was a really funny video of a girl crying and covering her forehead, saying, “What the [expletive], I just wanted BANGS.”

Her bangs were cut so short, they were right at her hairline.

If you watched Vine back then, you probably remember it!

Well, this whole article is just like that video—people asking for nice hairstyles and getting something totally different (and not in a good way). Let’s take a look!

I… The salon should return her money for this one.

I think what went wrong here is that the person who did the braids started from the top instead of the back. Because of that, the braids don’t sit properly — and it shows.

Um, I hope this wasn’t her actual wedding day…

I would definitely cry if my wedding hair turned out like this. I really hope this was just a trial run. People do those before the big day… right? I think so!

My heart just goes out to this person.

Here’s the explanation:

“Asked for a bang trim and “chocolate brown” hair color. Top image is the reference for the bangs. Bottom right is what my hair looked like when I walked into the salon. Bottom left is what I looked like when I left the salon.”

This is just so brutal.

The picture on the right shows what her hair looked like before, the middle was her inspiration, and the left is how it actually turned out. Sadly, the process badly damaged her hair, so now she’s slowly dyeing it darker and trimming it to help it heal.

See, this is why we can’t have nice things.

I’m not sure what exactly went wrong here, but it really looks like someone might have brushed out her curls — and that’s honestly kind of scary. Does anyone know what happened?

This is a super shady salon.

“Posted by a local salon. The before is my mum AFTER they did her hair, the after is a completely different woman,” this Reddit user explained.

You know you did a bad job when you have to use the real “after” pic as a “before” shot.

Oh no. Oh no…

This person let their friend practice on their hair because they wanted to go to beauty school.

The result? It totally gives off “Frenchie from Grease” vibes — you know the scene!

The worst part of this haircut is that she didn’t even ask for layers.

She didn’t notice until she got home that her lovely “after” photo was actually hiding a super uneven haircut. What a letdown!

She got cursed with an unintentional “Karen” haircut.

(With apologies to all the chill Karens out there.)

She went to the Hair Cuttery hoping for a stylish, asymmetrical bob — but ended up with a choppy “Karen” cut instead. That’s honestly the worst!

I THINK this was supposed to be a long shag.

I hate to say it, but those aren’t pigtails in the second picture. It’s just… really sad. She even joked that she’d win the “worst haircut” award — and honestly, as harsh as that sounds, she might not be wrong.

Apparently, this was impossible to achieve in one sitting.

“What I asked for VS what I got – $450 AUD and 4.5hrs later… I’m going to bed,” said this Reddit user.

People in the comments said the look she wanted was pretty hard to achieve. But for $450, you’d at least expect the stylist to give a heads-up, right?

Please save her from these curls.

Guys, perms are serious business — you really can’t mess them up. That said, the curls should look great in about a month! Until then… it’s definitely hat season all day, every day.

Well…at least they’re curls!

This was supposed to be ragdoll curls, but… yeah, it didn’t go as planned. Let’s just leave it there. And repeat after me: Do. Not. Brush. Out. Curls. Ever.

Honey, you accidentally nailed auburn.

“Since we are sharing bad hair experiences… here’s mine. Left is what I wanted, right is what I got,” said this Redditor.

Um… That’s orange. Everything about this is just so very sad.

They did not consent to that length.

“[…] the desired cut was waaaay longer. My hair was long, I wanted shoulder length. She gave me chin length.”

I would have a full breakdown if someone basically cut off all my hair like that.

Missing: bleach.

“Went to the hair salon today. Asked for what’s on the left. Walked out with the right. Now [I] have to find someone to fix it.”

Whoever did this skipped the most important step — bleaching the hair before adding the dye. No wonder it turned out like that. Seriously, what were they thinking?

This hair looks pixelated.

It doesn’t look too bad at first… until you get up close to the dye line. Then it starts to look like someone tried (and failed) to create a pixelated effect. Yikes.

Second verse, same as the first.

Shoutout to yet another case of skipping the bleach — and believe it or not, this wasn’t a DIY fail. A professional stylist actually did that. I have so many questions…

This is what heartbreak looks like.

Like… this haircut was already risky since it’s basically a faded bowl cut. But why is it so high up? And why are the top hairs cut that short? Just… why??

NOOOOOO.

This is just so sad. It looks like they didn’t even try to get it right. The color was supposed to go on the bottom, and there’s only one shade of blue? I really feel bad for the person who had to walk out with this.

Box dyes just can’t get you platinum on the first try.

This was meant to be a fun new look for a birthday, but it didn’t quite work out. Box dyes usually can’t give you full platinum on the first try. I have managed a platinum ombré before though — so it’s not impossible!

How far up did the stylist go here?!

It was only supposed to go up about 1/4 of the way — not 3/4! But hey, according to the poster, their friends and family had a good laugh about it. Gotta love those silver linings!
